 This is hands-on learning! I believe in showing you what to do,then you jump in and try it for yourself.I teach in a small class environment with Limited Space Available in each class for a more personal approach.

🔥Fundamentals of Forging Blades (Next Class is May 18th 2024)  

(This is a great place to start if you’re new to the craft.) This is an introduction to my process of forging blades
All tools and materials are provided.
No experience needed.
This will cover everything you need to get started forging blades.
Learn the tricks of the trade of Bladesmithing
I will show you how to forge the entire blade to shape including
•Tip
•Profile
•Bevels
•Tang - hidden tang and full tang.
•Straightening Tips and Tricks.
•Basic knife design,etc 

This is a one day class
7am-6pm
$272.95 Per Person 
10 hrs. of hands on learning
Each person will forge two blades to take home.
This will include step by step demonstrations, Hands on forging/Instruction, Learning how to move the steel where you want it to go and using the right tools for the job.
We are going to be forging two blades.
One drop point and one style of your choice.
Step by step from establishing the tip, isolating material, drawing material, forming the tang. (Full tang and hidden tang)
Basics of using spring fullers to make different shapes, profile refinement and forging basic bevels in.
I love sharing the craft, This is my passion!
My Bladesmithing journey began in 2002.
This is a great way to give forging a try with all the right tools in one place without having to spend thousands on the trade before giving it a try. This is also a good opportunity to brush up on the basics of Bladesmithing if you've already forged a few blades.
(If you've already taken this class and/or would like to go deeper into forging please ask about the intermediate forging class)

🔥Start To Finish (Hunter)

Y’all have asked for a week long build a knife from beginning to end so here you go!

This will be an all out learning experience building one of my forged finish style hunting knives.

This is a 5day class
50+ hrs. of hands on learning
7am- 6pm
$1000 per person
(Wed-Sun) to try to minimize y’all have to take vacation time off.

🔥Start To Finish (Chopper) Class 

May 22nd - 26th 2024

(Brute de forge) Everything's bigger in texas right? So let's make a big bad chopper!
Y’all have asked for a chopper class so here you go!

This will be an all out learning experience building one of my forged finish style choppers.

This is a 5day class.

🔥Grinding and Heat Treat Class

(Next Class is June 29th-30th)

Learn how harden, temper, grind and finish your blades.
This will cover in depth
•How to prep your blades for heat treat
•Heat treating carbon steels
•Free hand grinding
•Grinding with a jig
•Machine finishing
•Handsanding
•Understanding edge geometry and performance
•Overview of sandblasting/stone washed finish
•Sharpening on a 2x72

This is an opportunity to clean up, drill, Heat treat, grind and finish the blade you made in the fundamentals class.

This is a two day class
7am- 6pm.
$425 per person. 
Learn what it takes to make a tough, sharp, functional blade.
I will provide one blade profile to focus on leaning grinding bevels after that you can start on another blade you brought with you. 
(This is a opportunity to finish one of the blades from the fundamentals class) If you already make knives / haven’t attended the fundamentals class and want to bring a profiled blade that’s ready for bevels and you’re interested in this class please see the blade requirements below.


**Requirements if you want to bring a blade to Heat Treat/grind*
**Basic Carbon Steel (5160,1080,1085.1095,52100,80CRV2,etc.)
*No unknown steel 
*Must be full tang 
*Must be no larger than 5” blade

*Please don’t HT or bevel the blade before class. (I will provide one blade ready for bevels)
Some experience recommended for this class. 
You need to have already completed the fundamentals class/or have basic knife making experience.
We will cover tricks and tips to make clean straight grinds, how to scribe and layout you grinds, Heat treating carbons steels, handsanding tips, edge geometry, etc. 

 

🔥The Handle Class (full tang) Next Class is May 4th

We will cover handle design, construction, how to prep everything for a nice clean fit, cutting, shaping, hand sanding, buffing and finishing your handle.

This is a one day class
7am- 6pm
$225 per person.

This is an opportunity to finish your blade from the heat treating and grinding class. (You may attend this class separately but you must provide a blade that is flat, drilled and ready for a handle.) If you have any questions please ask.
All tools and materials will be provided.
We will be using stabilized wood and G10 liners for class. If you’d like to use some scales you already have from a reputable source that’s fine.
A handle is the connection from the knife to the user. It needs to be comfortable, safe, ergonomic, easy to control, balanced and look good in the process.

This will be an all out learning experience building one of my forged Karambit style knives.

🔥 Leather Sheath Class at Frogjelly Leather

Come Learn to make a solid leather sheath for your knife. Please bring a small to medium fixed blade knife and we will make a sheath for it. (4.5” blade max) 
This is half day class
12pm-5pm
$135 per person
A good sheath complements a good knife to make a complete package. We will be making a basic pouch style leather sheath.
All tools and materials will be provided.
I will be demonstrating basic borders/tooling/ finishing techniques.
This class doesn't require any prior experience.
Frogjelly Leather has been kind to provide their facility for me to teach this class.
